How do I get used to the brace?
For the first two weeks you will be asked to get used to wearing the brace. For the first week you wear the brace in the evenings only and for the second week, you are to wear the brace in the evenings and in bed at night. At the end of this two-week training period you will be expected to wear the brace for a minimum of 23 hours per day.

Will it be painful?
It is likely to be sore for about the first 3-5 days. If necessary, painkillers such as the ones you would normally take for a headache may help (please read the instructions on the packet). If there is an obvious area of soreness as a result of the brace rubbing your gums, ring for an appointment as soon as is reasonably possible. If possible, do not stop wearing the brace or else you will have to go through the 3-5 days of discomfort all over again when you start wearing it once more.
